Tournaments
Events and entries, the draw with seeds and byes, fixtures that hold real courts, and results that cannot be entered wrong.
A tournament and its events
A tournament is the occasion — “Monsoon Open” — with a code and a date when entries close. Inside it are events, each with its own fee, its own cap on entries and its own draw: men’s singles, under-15 doubles, and so on.
Entries
An entry is a customer in an event. The fee is invoiced like anything else, and the name is frozen as it was at entry so a later rename does not rewrite a draw sheet. One person enters an event once.
The draw
Seeding, then draw. Byes go to the top seeds — that is the point of seeding — and a bye is a match with one entrant and the winner already set, never a phantom opponent. Entries close the moment the draw is made; adding a player afterwards would mean redrawing and invalidating every court already held.
Fixtures and results
Scheduling a match books a court through the ordinary booking desk, so a fixture competes for the slot exactly as a walk-in would. A tournament with its own private timetable double-books courts on the first weekend; this one cannot.
Enter the winner and they advance. The winner must be one of the two players — the database refuses anything else — and a withdrawal after the draw leaves a walkover rather than a hole.
